Easter at First: Resources and Information

Easter looks much different at First Baptist Church this year. For the first time in our church’s 175-year history, services during the Easter season will not take place with the church gathered in one place, but scattered in many places. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate Easter!

This page will be your one-stop-shop for information regarding Easter 2020 at FBC Milton, as well as providing you with several resources to help make the most of this Easter season.

Take a look at the resources we’re providing for you here…

INVITE CARDS FOR FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND NEIGHBORS

You can download and print invite cards to give to your neighbors, friends, or family members to invite them to “attend” a worship service with us online during the month of April. Be sure to use these only as you engage in “essential” activities, which include walking in your neighborhood. Each sheet of paper is four invite cards. Just download them, print them, then cut them out. If you see someone while out walking or conducting other “essential” business, give them an invite, in a socially-distanced manner, of course.

PAUSE AND PRAY: NIGHTLY AT 7:00 PM (APRIL 5 – 11)

Let’s spend seven days in prayer together. As we face this unusual and uncertain time, developing and maintaining a posture of prayer is imperative. Beginning on Palm Sunday, we’re asking each member of FBC Milton to PAUSE and PRAY every night at 7:00 for 7 days. If your family is gathered together at that time, spend a few minutes praying together. We encourage you to use this prayer guide from LifeWay.

“BEHOLD, THE LAMB!” COMMUNION CELEBRATION: THURSDAY, APRIL 9th (6:00 PM)

On Thursday, April 9th, we will premiere a video to guide you and your family in celebrating communion. I’ll share a brief message that I’ve titled “Behold, the Lamb!” This message will trace the sacrifice of the lamb through the Old Testament, ultimately leading to Jesus’ death as the sacrificial Lamb of God. We’ll also point even further to the Lamb’s return in the future. You don’t want to miss this great time of worship online on Thursday, April 9th, at 6:00 PM.

You can access this premiere video through the church’s YouTube Live channel. Go to http://www.youtube.com and search for “FBC Milton FL.” Or you can click this link and go directly to it. The video will also premiere on the church’s Facebook Live feed. If you have a Facebook account, be sure you have liked and are following the church’s Facebook page. Doing so will enable you to get notifications of when we go live.

Observing communion that evening will be simple. Our pastor will use unleavened bread and juice to lead your family in observing communion. You can even use this recipe to make unleavened bread at home and use it on April 9th. But you can also use something as simple as a cracker and a sip of water. The elements you use are not as important as the symbolism behind them, which will be explained during our service on Thursday, April 9th.

“SPOKEN FOR” GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE: FRIDAY, APRIL 10th (6:00 PM)

On Friday, April 10th, we’ll premiere a video focusing on the final sayings of Christ from the cross. Often Good Friday has a very dark, somber tone, as it should. But there’s a tension in Good Friday. While there was a sense of darkness as Christ was crucified, there was, behind that, a sense of encouragement and hope. The words Christ uttered from the cross actually speak hope into our lives. Tune in on Friday at 6:00 PM to be encouraged as you realize that you are “spoken for” by Christ!

THE POWER OF THE RESURRECTION: EASTER SUNDAY, APRIL 12th (10:30 AM)

We hope you’ll make plans to join us online on Easter Sunday at 10:30 AM as we celebrate the resurrection! Catch us via livestream on our church website, on YouTube Live, or on Facebook Live. We’ll hear a word of hope from God’s Word regarding the power the resurrection of Christ still has for lives today!
